When scientists study Centenarians (people who live to 100 years old and remain healthy), they search for genetic commonalities. They aren't looking for a "magic" gene that prevents one specific disease; they are looking for a master regulator.

The most consistent genetic variant found across diverse global populations of centenarians is located in the FOXO3 gene (Forkhead box O3).
